OFF THE WIRE
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A local state trooper is facing some serious allegations.
Sources have confirmed with the KDKA Investigators that the trooper is under investigation for alleged leaks to a dangerous motorcycle gang member.
Sources confirm longtime state trooper, Cpl. Robert Stauffer’s gun was taken from him, he was escorted from the barracks in Greensburg Monday and suspended without pay pending termination.
Sources confirm he allegedly lied to state police investigators looking into his relationship with a member of the Pagans motorcycle gang.
Sources confirm a yearlong investigation into Stauffer’s relationship with the Pagan motorcycle member.
Sources confirm Stauffer met the gang member while working out at a Greensburg gym. Troopers are no longer allowed there.
Sources also confirm that state police investigators are trying to determine if Stauffer allegedly jeopardized the safety of a state police undercover officer after Stauffer allegedly identified the undercover officer to the Pagan motorcycle gang member.
State police have investigated illegal criminal activity involving the Pagan motorcycle gang for more than 20 years – allegations of illegal drugs, guns and even murder.
Sources confirm Stauffer has not been charged criminally at this time, but remains under investigation.
State police in Harrisburg confirm Stauffer has been suspended without pay and say this is an ongoing investigation.
Also, the union representing Stauffer had no comment, saying they just received the case a short time ago.
Stauffer face an arbitration hearing in the next few months.
