NEVEDA - Mongols Motorcycle Club arrives in Boulder City

Boulder City, NV (KTNV) -- It's a big biker weekend in Boulder City.
The Mongols Motorcycle Club rolled into town Friday afternoon for its National Meeting.
Around 400 people are expected to be there. But a past incident has police prepared for anything.
A shooting happened 10 years ago in Laughlin, involving the Mongols and Hells Angels. Three people died.
While the Mongols say that incident is long in the past, and shouldn't affect its event this weekend, it's certainly not halting the police presence. But either way, both groups are hoping everything goes smooth.
"We have vehicles all up and down U.S. 93, 95 and Nevada Way, Nevada Highway and so there will be officers from every agency in Southern Nevada patrolling Boulder City until Sunday," said Boulder City Police Chief Tom Finn.
With officers in town from Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, NHP and federal agencies, the Boulder City Police Department is ready to respond to just about anything.
"There's a police car and a uniform just about on every corner of Boulder City right now," said Alan Stevens, owner of the Coffee Cup.
For Stevens, the motorcycle club coming into town is great for business, "It'll be a good time. I think it'd be no different for us business-wise. It'd be no different than having the art festival or spring jamboree, you know, things like that. It'll be a big weekend though."
The Mongols Motorcycle Club is expected to bring in thousands of dollars to the local economy.
Deb Stolpe, a Boulder City resident, said, "They're gonna go to the bars, they're gonna be in a lot of our different stores and restaurants and we need it. We honestly do, so I'm glad they're here."
But police are on high alert anyway, given past history.
Chief Finn said he's very confident he'll be able to keep his city safe, "We have a lot of help here in the city and a lot more over the hill in just a moment's notice that can be here if we need them."
The lawyer representing the Mongols, Stephen Stubbs, told Action News the city has nothing to worry about, "This isn't like a river run or any kind of event that has multiple clubs, this is really like a family reunion."
The Mongols will be in town through Sunday for its National Meeting.
They're staying at Boulder Inn and Suites, and have booked every room at the hotel.
