NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—The son of a Christian motorcycle club leader in Orange County has had charges dismissed after pleading guilty to possessing a deadly weapon for carrying brass knuckles.
Matthew Aguilar's lawyer says a prosecutor dismissed the misdemeanor case Monday because Aguilar had stayed out of trouble for six months.
Attorney Lloyd Freeberg tells City News Service it was the right decision.
Aguilar is the son of Phillip Aguilar, who founded the Anaheim-based Set Free Soldiers. They and others were charged after a bar brawl with Hell's Angels in Newport Beach two years ago that ended with two stabbings.
The elder Aguilar pleaded guilty to illegally owning ammunition and got probation.
Another man got eight years for attempted murder and other crimes.
