PATRIOTIC bikers are gearing up for a 24-hour parade to be held as part of Bahrain's National Day celebrations.
Hundreds are expected to take part in the event, believed to be the first of its kind in the Middle East.
Bahrain Motorcycles Club is organising it under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad's personal representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
It will roar into action on December 3 at the Bahrain International Circuit at 6am and continue until 8am the following day.
Bikers will roam around main attractions, including Bahrain Fort, Arad Fort, Bahrain World Trade Centre and Bahrain Financial Harbour.
Club treasurer and organiser Mohsin Shams said the event aimed to bring bikers together and appreciate the attractions the country has to offer.
"It also marks our National Day, which reminds us how amazing our country is. The event will feature many stops to ensure the bikers get a chance to rest between drives. However, we will be awake for 24 hours."
He said participants would hold Bahrain flags and decorate their bikes. "My bike will be decorated by Ed Hardy, one of the sponsors of the event."
Sponsors include Etisalcom, Harely Davidson Bahrain and Al Bander Hotel and Resort.
Those interested are requested to register on December 2 at the Al Bander Hotel and Resort, Sitra, from 10am to 8pm.
Event tickets for the full parade will be on sale for BD15, which will include refreshment, food and entry to an after-parade beach party on December 4 at the resort. Entry for the party only is BD5, not including food.
The party will feature activities, including an auction of a Harely Davidson XR1200X motorcycle, a show for motorbikes and a raffle offering a Rocker Harely Davidson motorcycle.
Part of the proceeds will go towards supporting poor families.
