NANAIMO — A high-ranking member of the Nanaimo Hells Angels is one of four men facing charges of extortion and accusations that connect them to organized crime.
Frederick Widdifield, who is sometimes a spokesman for the local motorcycle club, Jeffrey Benvin, Robbie Lajeunesse and Rajinder Sandhu all face charges of extortion and “commission of an offence for a criminal organization,” identified in provincial court documents as the Nanaimo Hells Angels.
Lajeunesse and Sandhu are also charged with assault.
Lajeunesse and Benvin also face additional charges of theft over $5,000 (a boat and trailer), and possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon, identified as brass knuckles and a Taser.
RCMP Tuesday would not comment on the case, citing “operational sensitivity.”
All four men are scheduled to be back in court Nov. 23.
