NC Roadblock Relief Legislation,

OFF THE WIRE
Finally, there might be serious legislative relief to counter the roadblocks in North Carolina.

NC has two roadblock counter legislation bills heading to committees.

NC has a House Judiciary Committee in addition to Judiciary sub-committee A, Judiciary sub-committee B, and Judiciary sub-committee C.

H375 will be heard in the House Judiciary Committee.

H381 will be heard in Judiciary sub-committee B.

I prefer H375 over H381. Undoubtedly, it will be very tough to get through. Expect GHSP, CHP, union LEO's, AAA, MADD, and most Raleigh area mass media to oppose, in addition to safety nanny committee members such as Weiss. This needs massive public support as the opposition will be plentiful. It is the right thing to do, so I heartily support it.

The past decade has been a challenge for liberty in America. When the troops come home, I want them to come home to a land MORE free than when they left.

Rep. Bradley,

I like H375 a lot, and hope it passes. I have a strategy, just in case it looks like it's going down in flames due to all that opposition. Rather than the entire bill fail, at least a part of it might pass. It does not water it down with any compromise whatsoever. All that is needed is to add a section:

All state, county, and municipal agencies shall refuse to accept federal funding for the purpose of conducting roadblocks which target non-commercial vehicles or any specific type of non-commercial vehicle.

If, despite adding this section, it still appears to be faltering, you could strike non-commercial vehicles or , and the effect would be to get a compromise bill passed but it salvages a very important section:

All state, county, and municipal agencies shall refuse to accept federal funding for the purpose of conducting roadblocks which target any specific type of non-commercial vehicle.

This would coincide nicely with both H381 and US House Resolution 904. but take a giant step further than H381 would do, by removing the funding! Kill the funding and you kill the program. Removal of the funding is key, because the Executive Branch and police agencies think they are above the law. The "compromise" would allow Interstate Commerce Act weigh station roadblocks of commercial vehicles as happened prior to all the roadblock maddness.

Amen to that statement.
