Growing pains: The babywear logo that is causing all the fuss
.But that’s what happened when a small babywear company crossed paths with the Hells Angels.
It might not sound like a fair fight but it seems the bikers have revved their engines – or, more accurately, instructed their lawyers – and barred babies from looking like them.
Nippaz With Attitude, which is based in London, said they have been asked to stop selling a baby grow because it featured an image too similar to the famous winged skull worn by members of the Hells Angels on their leather jackets.
The baby company, which counts Madonna and Liam Gallagher among its customers, created the design as a homage to the world’s most famous biker group.
It features a winged skull with a helmet and the words ‘No Angel’. Workers told how it became one of their most popular items until they received a letter from lawyers for biker club warning them to stop selling the design immediately.
They have now removed it from their website out of fear of an expensive lawsuit.
One staff member at the company said: ‘We have to give in because we can’t afford to fight them.
We are a tiny baby company. ‘The whole reason we did the design is to pay respect to the old bikers’ gangs, essentially referencing the Hells Angels.
‘They are supposed to be anti-establishment but they have come after a tiny baby company.
When I first saw the letter I thought someone was playing a practical joke.’ It comes after it was reported in the US that the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club had settled a lawsuit with the Alexander McQueen fashion house over trademark issues.
