The Boozefighters Mountain Chapter 60 Motorcycle Club once again held their annual “Bikers Fight Hunger Food Drive” on Saturday, November 13, at Nature’s Pub in Troy, New York. All were invited to attend with a can (or two) of food and a $20 donation to be distributed to the food pantry of St. Joseph’s Church.
Several members of the biker community attended, as well as a strong show of support from local motorcycle clubs. The trucks were filled to the brim with cans of nonperishable food, boxes of oatmeal, pasta, pancake mixes, you name it, all to aid local families in need. This year, the Boozefighters chose to serve a complete “Thanksgiving” dinner, turkey, potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and several desserts. There were nothing but compliments to the chef(s) and everything was absolutely delicious. The Smokin’ Aces band entertained throughout the day and provided the wonderful music that could be heard both inside and out of the bar. Since it was a beautiful Fall day and warm enough to linger on the porch outside, it was great that the crowd was able to sprawl out and mingle, which is always easy at a biker event but even more so when everyone is there for a good cause. The event was well-organized, ran smoothly (due to the team work the members of this club always display), and proved to be an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Although the club’s Northeast Rep was unable to attend and was sorely missed, a card was presented to him later in the day signed by everyone who was at the party. The delight on his face as he opened the card was immediately transparent, and upon hearing the news that the Boozefighters delivered FOUR truckloads of food to St. Joseph’s Church, he expressed his thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in making this food drive another great success.
