A member of the Mongols motorcycle gang and two companions were arrested at a bar early Monday morning after the man accidentally dropped a loaded pistol on the floor, police said.
Covina police Lt. David Povero said officers responded to the Rude Dog and Grill, 114 N. Citrus Ave. about 1:45 a.m. after receiving calls that a gun had fallen from a man's pants.
When they arrived, the officers found a man who matched the description given by witnesses, Gerardo Curiel, 32, of Rancho Cucamonga.
Povero said Curiel was "evasive and uncooperative with officers" but no gun was found when they patted him down.
The officers also patted down one of Curiel's companions, Steve Hernandez, 34, of Glendora and found a loaded 9mm Heckler & Koch pistol.
The officers then searched a car belonging to another of Curiel's companions, Jennifer Lopez, 29, of Rancho Cucamonga, with her consent and found a loaded 9mm Glock handgun registered to Curiel.
Povero said both Lopez and Curiel were arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded gun in a car. Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon. All three were taken to the Covina jail and have since been released on bail.
Povero said that while Curiel is known to be a Mongol member, it was not known if either Hernandez or Lopez had any ties to the gang.
