Our bikers, who art in leather jackets, Hells Angels be thy name.

Dozens of motorbike riders rolled into Rochester Cathedral yesterday (Sunday) for the inaugural Biker's Service.

The afternoon service saw bikers from the Hells Angels, Harley Owners Group, White Trash and Tsunami Riders Motorcycle Club come together to remember riders who had lost their lives on the open roads.

Bromley and Bexley Archdeacon Dr Paul Wright - an avid Harley rider - led the service, which saw rock band The Loose Cannons lead the congregation in a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's timeless hit Sweet Home Alabama.

Prayers included the Lord's Prayer and a Bikers' Prayer.

The service was brought to a close with a blessing from the Dean of Rochester Cathedral, the Very Rev Adrian Newman.

Tsunami Riders Motorcycle Club president Peter Green said: "The service gave bikers the chance to come together to remember those who are no longer with us.

"There was a great atmosphere, with all the riders from different clubs joining as one.

"We ride motorcycles and realise the dangers, which sadly see riders die on the roads each year. This was our way to remember them."

Biker Kevin Mervin added: "The service was a great idea. We all remember loved ones who have died on their bikes.

"The entire biking community was brought together today by our mutual love of riding motorcyles."
