California car crash Early yesterday afternoon a driver in California was arrested for allegedly swerving into oncoming traffic and colliding with 5 motorcycles. According to officials the man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Police are also searching for another car that actually caused the crash; according to police the other car apparently was attempting to pass the group of motorcycles, which forced the oncoming car to swerve to avoid oncoming traffic.

Police say the group of motorcycles had approximately 21 motorcyclists, all of which were out for a cruise to celebrate their clubs 10th anniversary. According to witnesses a fast moving car reportedly tried to pass the large group of motorcycles at a high rate of speed. An oncoming car was forced to swerve to avoid the speeding car; causing the driver to lose control and slide into the group of motorcyclists. At this point 5 members of the motorcycle club are dead, with another 7 members still in the hospital with injuries. The accident occurred on a two lane, undivided highway near the U.S. Mexico border.

Following the accident the car that passed the motorcyclists and essentially caused the accident did not stop. Witnesses reported that the car was a gold Honda; though there were no more details available. Police suspect the driver fled the scene intentionally to avoid and charges for the accident; they also say the driver likely fled to nearby Mexico.

The driver of the car that actually struck the motorcyclists is not being charged with anything connected to the wreck or the motorcyclists; he was simply arrested for possible DUI. The official charges are still pending the results of a blood test; though the man will not be charged with anything related to the crash.
