Harley-Davidson To Produce SONS OF ANARCHY Choppers

New licensing deal set to infuse biker culture with a fresh dose of rich nerds. When I sit down for my interview with James Lipton (something that I’ve come to realize is an inevitability for all citizens over a long enough timeline, like chicken pox or rhythm guitar duties with Guns N’ Roses), and he asks me to put a name to the sound or noise that I hate, it will be the sound made by Harley-Davidson motorcycles. And when he asks me to put a name to the sound or noise that I love, it will be the sound of Harley-Davidson motorcycles crashing into other Harley-Davidson motorcycles. When this interview takes place, it will be the only interview for which I have ever been fully prepared.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new licensing deal signed between Harley-Davidson and Fox calls for the production of a limited run of 100 new Sons of Anarchy-inspired bikes, with an expected price tag of around $25,000 per. Not to say that $25,000 is a lot of cheddar for a vehicle in this day and age, but it is a princely goddamned sum for a piece of memorabilia connected to a TV show, and all I can say is it better have a cup holder that snugly accommodates a triple-venti-soy vanilla latte, or there will be a shrill brand of hell to pay back at the dealership.
Now for the dilemma: Do you fork over the twenty-five large for the bike, or do you tack on another five grand and snag a fiberglass replica Game of Thrones throne? It’s a trick question, of course. The real answer is to invest the money in aggressive psychotherapy.
But let’s have another opinion. I’m guessing I know Jeffrey Godsick’s answer. Godsick is the president of 20th Century Fox’s Consumer Products division. “There are different audiences buying the products,” Godsick said, referring to the various Sons of Anarchy trinkets available online from Fox. “They range from the show’s fan base to people who just like the counter-culture biker attitude to people who are weekend bikers.” Godsick then hissed at the rising sun and locked himself in a large steamer trunk. Sons of Anarchy continues to be FX’s top-rated show.
