QUEENSLAND police have lodged a Supreme Court application to declare the Finks Motorcycle club's Gold Coast branch a criminal organisation.
This is the first application under the Criminal Organisation Act 2009, which allows the dismantling of organisations involved in serious criminal activity.
Assistant Commissioner Mike Condon said the Queensland Police Service had been working on the application for many months.
"A single application requires thorough investigation supported by significant evidence in order to meet the requirements of the legislation," Mr Condon said in a statement on Friday.
"The team at Task Force Hydra have been working exhaustively since the legislation was passed to bring us to this point.
"We are confident in our position."
