Harley-Davidson announced it is creating a new Draggin' Bagger Class for the 2011 AHDRA season which will showcase its new Screamin' Eagle 120R V-Twin. Harley-Davidson announced the creation of a new Draggin’ Bagger Class for the 2011 racing season. The new drag racing class is centered on the introduction of its Screamin’ Eagle 120R engine, a 120 cubic-inch V-Twin capable of putting a claimed 135 horsepower and 137 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheel with a little help from a high-flow throttle body and injectors in addition to tuned intake and exhaust systems.

The new class is for 1999-and-up Harley-Davidson touring motorcycles equipped with the 120R engine. Other performance modifications are limited to “ensure low entry cost and a high level of competition.” The touring Harleys in the Draggin’ Bagger Class must run with an original frame, fairings, saddlebags and other bodywork. Externally, Harley wants the bikes to appear as close to stock as possible, but limited modifications will be allowed to the brakes, suspension, transmission and a few other components.

“This is Harley-Davidson’s first time in several decades to offer a crate racing motor and we’re excited to work with AHDRA to launch this new racing class to support the Screamin’ Eagle 120R engine,” said Tony Nicosia, Category Manager for Screamin’ Eagle Parts & Accessories in the official press release. “Together we’ve created a class that allows even a novice team to enjoy affordable racing. We anticipate strong participation and some exciting action during the 2011 racing season.”
Harley-Davidson’s Sceramin’ Eagle 120R engine is being assembled at H-D’s Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations Plant in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and was originally designed for off-road racing use. The new 120R powerplant comes at a retail price of $5495.95. More information about one of the most powerful V-Twins to come out of The Motor Company will soon be available in the 2011 Screamin’ Eagle Pro Racing Parts Catalog.

In conjunction with release of the news of its new Draggin’ Bagger Class, Harley-Davidson also announced it is pleased to continue its long-standing sponsorship of the All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA). The Draggin’ Bagger class will make its debut at the AHRDA Screamin’ Eagle Bike Week Nationals in Orlando, Florida on March 4-6, 2011.

“AHDRA is proud to continue carrying the Screamin’ Eagle banner to the racing community, and we are excited to finally let the cat out of the bag on the 120R. This engine makes a great package when paired with a Harley-Davidson Touring bike that will economically put its rider in the saddle of a wheelie popping, 10-second racing machine,” said AHDRA’s Craig Tharpe in the announcement.
