TRURO, N.S. - A Nova Scotia man charged in connection with the death of a 48-year-old former biker gang member more than a decade ago will remain in custody until a court appearance next month.
Gerald Leslie MacCabe, 43, made a court appearance today in Truro.
He will return to court Jan. 11 when a preliminary inquiry date will be set on a charge of being an accessory after the fact in the murder of a former Hells Angel, Randy Mersereau.
Mersereau was last seen on Oct. 31, 1999.
MacCabe's lawyer, David Mahoney, is asking for protective custody and is requesting his client be held anywhere other than the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Halifax.

Judge Richard MacKinnon says he will make the recommendation but the final decision rests with federal corrections officials.
