Fresno- When you think of Hells Angels, most people think of a rough group of guys on motorcycles.
But this weekend, the hard-core bikers showed they have big, soft hearts.
"People read what they want to read, and believe what they want to believe, we believe in these kids. We want to make sure to bring these toys here for these kids to have a great Christmas," said Merl Hefferman, secretary of the Fresno Hells Angels.
The tough guys donated 30 bikes and about 500 toys to the Poverello House for kids whose parents can't afford to go shopping for Christmas gifts.
"This really helps us to be able to provide a child a toy, most of the families that come here, the only gift they'll get for Christmas is from the Poverello House," said Kathryn Weakland with the Poverello House.
For the past 12 years, the Poverello House counted on these bikers to play Santa for a day.
And it wasn't just members from Hells Angels who rode out.
"You got Wind and Fire, you got Screamin Demons, you got just the regular Joe riding his motorcycle. It's everybody coming together to make this come together," said Hefferman.
The local charity says thanks to the bikers, families who are going through tough times, will be able to give their kids something new to play with on Christmas day.
"The families that we're seeing has increased, not a huge amount, but significant enough to where we're seeing families we've never seen before come through our doors," said Weakland.
