Suggested letter to the Governor

OFF THE WIRE
San Diego, CA

The Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger
Governor of California
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, CA 95814

Re: Please veto Senate Bill 435

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger:

Please veto Senate Bill 435, introduced by state Senator Fran Pavley. This is a heavy-handed and byzantine bill submitted by a mean-spirited person.

Real problems deserve real solutions. If there is a noise problem, we should have a decibel standard. If pollution is a problem, we should have an emissions standard. What's fair for motorcyclists is fair for everyone else. It’s not that hard to figure out.

As written, this bill will prevent ALL motorcyclists from installing ANY new aftermarket exhaust system, regardless of sound or emissions levels. This is regulatory overkill that needlessly attacks everyone associated with motorcycle customization, enthusiasts and industry alike.

Please stop this kind of assault on California citizens and businesses, and send a clear message that sneaky hate bills will not be allowed to pass by on your watch. You are our last hope, and we're counting on you to terminate this nasty bill.

Again, please veto Senate Bill 435. Thank you for your time and consideration of this important request.

Sincerely,
