California, 2 Hells Angels arrested on drug, weapon charges

Two Hells Angels were arrested Saturday by county gang investigators.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department reported that its gang unit arrested Steven Templeton, 28, of Vallejo, and a 25-year-old Ventura man in two separate traffic stops while conducting anti-gang operations.

Templeton was stopped for a traffic violation at Highway 101 and Main Street in Ventura around 2:20 p.m.

Investigators found Templeton was under the influence of methamphetamine and was arrested, according to the report. An investigation of his motorcycle found a concealed loaded handgun, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Templeton is being held at Ventura County Jail on $100,000 bail for offenses including felony being under the influence of drugs while possessing a loaded firearm and street terrorism.

Investigators stopped the 25-year-old Ventura man around 1 p.m. in Oak View for a traffic violation at Larmier and Highway 33, according to the report. He was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine and arrested, the Sheriff’s Department said. He was booked at Ventura County Jail and was released on $5,000 bail.

There was a large gathering for the funeral of a Hells Angel on Saturday afternoon in Ventura. Local law enforcement was aware of the funeral and kept an eye on it, but did not have any incidents. Officials could not say whether the men arrested attended the funeral.
