This Independence Day, Seoulites have been enjoying the three-day weekend by traveling en masse, but Seoul police have gone into overdrive.
To monitor biker gangs who tend to cause a ruckus every big national holiday, 6,000 police have been patrolling more than 100 areas known for high biker gang traffic, while dozens of bikers have been arrested and their bikes confiscated.
Police announced last week that they will be examining evidence provided by CCTV cameras throughout the city when making arrests. Video recording devices that have been installed on public buses and taxis will also be used to monitor any disorderly behavior.
