LETTER: Police need to stop loud, speeding motorcycle parades December 6, 2010
To the editor,
I am a Murfreesboro business owner and 14-year resident of Murfreesboro, and I am irritated by the constant barrage of loud and speeding motorcycles in my neighborhood.

I would like to invite the Murfreesboro Police Department to spend half an hour or so sitting near Indian Park Drive where it joins South Church Street. Every single weekday from about 3:30 p.m. on there is a parade of loud motorcycles racing up and down Indian Park Drive and back through the subdivisions. They show no regard for others on the road, and certainly no regard for the hundreds of people who live in this area.

If it's this bad in my area, I can only imagine that it's bad all over our town. I've read countless online articles about what other communities have done to rid themselves of this plague and most report that their police won't respond to these types of complaints or if they do the judges dismiss the complaint or citation.

There has to be something the citizens of our great town can do to resolve this escalating issue. If we don't, it will surely only get worse as word spreads among the motorcyclists that Murfreesboro is a wide open town, one that does nothing to stop them and their inconsiderate ways.
