GRAND HAVEN -- Angel Heisler, accused of driving without a license when she turned into the path of a motorcycle and caused fatal injuries to the driver, was sentenced to 19 months to five years in prison today.
Heisler, 49, of Holland, was driving on 136th Avenue near Riley Street on June 9 in Holland Township when she tried to turn into a driveway, but hit an oncoming motorcycle driven by Bob Wright, 49. He died at the hospital a day after the crash.
Heisler, who had moved from Illinois to Michigan, did not have a Michigan driver's license and her Illinois license had expired.
Driving records show the expiration came after it was suspended for numerous traffic violations in 2003, including drunken driving.
Heisler earlier this year pleaded no contest to negligent homicide and driving with a suspended license causing serious injury. A passenger on Wright's motorcycle was injured.
