Chicago Bears Playoffs Preview

If the Bears win Monday and the Packers lose on Sunday, the Bears clinch the NFC North and have a good shot at getting a first round bye for the playoffs. There are a million different scenarios where this could happen and could lead to this... but I'll leave all that to other writers and ESPN. The simple fact is if the Bears beat Minnesota at University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium which they will be heavy favorites with Favre out, and the Packers lose where they are will be heavy underdogs against a rolling Pats team especially if Rodgers is out, the Bears are in the playoffs.
The next question is how far can this team make it in January? Not to be a huge nay-sayer, but let's look at the schedule and who we've actually played and who've we've actually beaten:

Really the Packers and the Eagles are the only quality wins this team has. Let's not forget the should've been loss to Detroit, the drubbing by the Giants, and losses to the Seahawks (6-7) and the Redskins (5-8). We barely beat a bad Bills team, shut out the Dolphins who were using a third string qb, and got decimated by the Patriots, the best team in the NFL.
I'm not saying we suck or anything, but look at the schedule. We haven't done that much. 2 quality wins doesn't = Superbowl victory.

To all the non-believers at the beginning of the year, yes, this team has overachieved. But, remember they've been extremely lucky in the health department. If every other team has injuries except you, you're obviously going to put superior talent on the field. All things held equal, this is still a 7-9 team.
Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy with how da Bears have been performing this year. However, I just want to bring everyone back down to reality. This team is NOT a superbowl contender. Don't get your hopes up Chicago...
