TRURO – Murder charges have been laid in the disappearance of Charles Maddison of Portapique, who disappeared 10 years ago.
In the latest development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of outlaw biker Randy Mersereau, Windsor resident Michael John Lawrence, 36, of Windsor has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Maddison, who was 55 when he disappeared on Sept. 8, 2000.
Although the details surrounding his death have not been reported, police say Maddison was not involved in any criminal activity when he died.
“Mr. Maddison was an innocent victim. He was not involved in any criminal activity and tragically became the target of a senseless crime. We hope this arrest will bring some closure to his family,” Leger said.
