Upswing in motorcycle crashes prompts safety campaign by Kentucky State Police,,

OFF THE WIRE
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State Police officials are turning to social media for a safety campaign aimed at reducing motorcycle crashes.
State police say they plan to send out safety messages on Facebook, Twitter and other social media accounts.
He says one main concern is to increase driver recognition of motorcyclists in traffic.
The safety campaign comes amid an upswing in motorcycle-related crashes this year.
Through April 4, state police say there have been 249 crashes, up 69 percent from a year ago. The 167 injuries this year are up 75 percent from a year ago, and the nine deaths are 44 percent higher than at the same point in 2011.
KSP spokesman Lt. David Jude says with the unseasonably warm weather, more motorcyclists are on the road earlier than usual. He says one main concern is to increase driver recognition of motorcyclists in traffic.

If anyone believes this horsepoop about "safety," then we're all doomed.  This ALL rings of tyranny.  An excuse under the guise of "safety" to detain and search motorcyclists.  Freedom isn't free.  I'd rather die on my motorcycle than in a cage for violating some victimless crime.
TigerLily like you I have learned to question statements from law enforcement especially when it comes to motorcycle safety.
Beginning with Not Calling these Accidents because they are either a Crash and or a Collision
My first question would be was it a Crash or a Collision? As you saw the State Police are referring them to Crashes. Now you can not convince me that none of these were Collisions.
Who was at fault in the collision? What caused the Crash? Was another vehicle involved But did not have contact with the motorcycle?
With that being said since they said they want to increase driver recognition of motorcyclist in traffic that would leave me to believe drivers of other vehicles were involved in some way.
Of course when we have more riders on the road and many of them new we are going to have more traffic issues.
Who is paying for the officer’s time and any expenses that may be occurred in promoting this program? Is it from state funds or is it from the Federal Government? Does any part of this program include stopping motorcyclist for any reason?
There are a lot of questions to be asked and answered. Hopefully people will do that and support good programs and fight ones that are not.
