North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police in North Las Vegas are conducting emphasis patrols this week, targeting motorcyclists who are breaking the law and drivers on cell phones.
Police did not disclose exactly where the patrols would take place.
They said they'd be looking for motorcyclists not wearing helmets, or wearing helmets that don't meet guidelines. Motorcyclists must also have handlebars that are no higher than their shoulders.
Few motorcyclists were pulled over on Tuesday, but police said they caught many drivers on cell phones.
North Las Vegas police spokesperson Chrissie Coon said drivers think they can get away with holding their cell phone away from their face and talking on speaker phone. That's not the case- drivers can be pulled over as long as a phone is in their hand.
