AUSTRALIA - Killed execution-style, Darko feared he was 'going to get whacked'

OFF THE WIRE
Darko Janceski, killed in an execution-style murder south of Sydney, lived in constant fear of his life in the months before his death.
Barrister Jane Healey, who had acted for Janceski on several occasions over the past year, said the man slain outside a Berkeley home had expressed grave concerns that he was "going to get whacked".
Those fears proved well founded on Saturday when the former Comanchero was gunned down outside his parents' Gannet Avenue house just after 5pm.
Ms Healey revealed to the Illawarra Mercury that Janceski had told her numerous times he was terrified, particularly after his Berkeley home was set on fire last year.
"He definitely had genuine fears for his safety," she said.
Janceski was due to face court this week over allegations that he ordered a man out of a $33,000 car and then stole it.
Ms Healey had unsuccessfully appealed to Wollongong Local Court several times for Janceski's bail conditions to be changed to allow him to move to a different address.
She said yesterday Janceski had divulged that he felt "vulnerable" at his parents' home as he believed the Berkeley property was well known.
"He just wanted to live elsewhere ... he really didn't want to disclose where he was living as he felt he was at risk," she said.
The Mercury understands Janceski was a disenfranchised member of the Comancheros outlaw motorcycle gxxg and that he had left the group on bad terms last year.
Ms Healey did not think Saturday's attack was related to a shooting incident earlier this year that left Janceski with a gunshot wound to his leg. "I just feel very sad for his family, especially his dad who went to such efforts to try and stop [it]," she said.
"It happened in broad daylight, during the day ... Darko was definitely the target."
Janceski died when an unknown man on a motorbike rode into Gannet Avenue and fired several shots at the 32-year-old, one striking his heart.
