A former member of the northern Tasmanian chapter of the Rebels Motorcycle Club has been convicted of drug trafficking, but has avoided a jail term.In the Supreme Court in Launceston, David John Batge pleaded guilty to trafficking.
The 46-year-old is one of 10 people associated with the Rebels Motorcycle Club who were charged after police seized almost $300,000 worth of methyl amphetamine in a series of raids in Launceston last year.
The court heard Batge delivered two ounces of the drug to the Rebels clubhouse in Kings Meadows.
Police also discovered a package of the drug hidden in Batge's car as he and the then Rebels president were driving to Hobart last year.
Batge was sentenced to four months in prison, wholly suspended.
Three of his co-accused have denied similar charges and will appear in court at a later date.
