While many celebrities may enjoy two-wheeled past times both on and off the screen, a certain actress considers them scarier than appearing naked or having to act out a rape scene.
Actress Rooney Mara is playing the lead role in the latest incarnation of the highly popular book ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’.
The best-selling novel comes from the successful Millennium Trilogy of books from late author Stieg Larsson. The series of books that follows a violent theme were reportedly inspired by the late author witnessing the gang rape of a young girl when he was 15, leaving him disgusted by sexual violence. Larsson reportedly never forgave himself for failing to help the girl, whose name was Lisbeth and coincidentally the same as the young heroine of his books.
Described as tortured but extremely bright, the role of Lisbeth Salander will be played by Rooney Mara who was most recently seen in ‘The Social Network’. The actress will be sporting tattoo’s piercings and has learned to ride a motorcycle for the role
The gritty film sees Rooney’s character getting pierced, raped and nude quite frequently. Although Rooney was prepared to get down and dirty, it seems the motorcycle was a more frightening idea.
“The motorcycle was the thing I really didn’t want to do. You know, you’re going to be raped, be naked… But as soon as [director David Fincher] was like, ‘You’re going to have to ride a motorcycle,’ I was like, ‘Oh, really?’” Rooney told Entertainment Weekly.
‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' producers felt that none of the motorcycles currently sitting on showroom floors could match the one described by Larsson for his main character.
"It is a custom bike built just for the film," a source told reporters.
While the actress may have been scared about the custom motorcycle, changing her looks didn’t seem to be a problem.
"I didn't freak out at all [about chopping my hair off]. Because at that point, I'd already been sort of in the part, like researching it, for two months, so to me the hair was weighing me down. I wanted to get rid of it. They were going to wait longer. I was like: 'You just need to do it!'"
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be released in the US on December 21.

And just as Mara changed her appearance for the movie but cutting her short and dying it jet black, her ride seen in the movie will be customized too.‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' producers felt that none of the motorcycles currently sitting on showroom floors could match the one described by Larsson for his main character.
