Trial will begin in mid December to determine whether Kevin Campbell of Watertown is guilty of murdering fellow motorcycle gang member Roland Lagasse, 51, in Torrington. Campbell has been in prison awaiting a second trial on $2 million bond. He faces life in prison.
A mistrial was declared in the summer of 2009 when jurors couldn't agree that Campbell, defended by attorney Ralph Crozier, was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of killing Roland Lagasse, 51, outside the Forbidden Motorcycle Club on Winsted Road June 27, 2008.
Unable to afford an attorney, Campbell will be represented by a court-appointed public defender, Christopher Cosgrove, when he faces a new jury and prosecuting State's Attorney David Shepack.
