PITTSFIELD - Investigators spent the day Monday looking for clues in the homes where three murder suspects have lived or spent time. Friends of theirs, like Justina Coe, tried to figure out what happened.

"They seemed really nice, really nice people but they would never hurt anybody, but I'm not sure," she said.

Behind glass and under heavy guard in Central Berkshire District Court, the suspects were charged with kidnapping, witness intimidation and murder, including 44-year-old David Chalue of Springfield and North Adams, and 31-year-old Cauis Veiovis of Pittsfield, also known as Roy Gutfinski, who has horn implants in his forehead and facial tattoos.

Prosecutors said a third defendant, 34-year-old Adam Lee Hall of Pittsfield and Peru, is a known member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.

"I know Mr. Hall is alleged to be a member of  Hells Angels but nothing I've read or seen anything that would indicate that what ever he's accused of is a gang crime," said William Rota, Hall's Attorney.

Prosecutors said Hall faced a separate assault and extortion trial this month, where one of the victims, David Glasser was set to testify against him. Glasser and two other Pittsfield men, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell, went missing August 28. Their bodies were found buried in an undisclosed location on Saturday.

"We are making every effort possible to hold these men responsible and gather all the information and evidence we can," said David Capeless, Berkshire County District Attorney.

Justina Coe said Hall is her daughter's uncle, and that he's raised money for fundraisers on Mother's Day and for Lobsterfest. She said the Hells Angels is just a motorcycle club, not a gang.

"They're just hard working people trying to be productive members of society," Coe said.
Reporter: "Not gang members?"
Coe: "No, productive members."
The suspects will be back in court October 12. Capeless said it's an ongoing investigation, and if anyone has information about the accused men, to give Pittsfield police a call.
