Wednesday, 13 July 2011 | Written by Asia | | Organizers are calling it an old motorcycle show featuring a new location and new, lower admission prices as the LA Calendar Motorcycle Show prepares to kick off on Saturday in Long Beach California.
Celebrating its twentieth year, the Calendar Show moves from the Queen Mary Event Park in past years, now dockside next to the historic Queen Mary ocean liner on Saturday in the exciting Seawalk Village which replicates an old British seaside town for a step back in history.
Considered one of the world's premier motorcycle events, the show features major motorcycle and parts manufacturers, top name builders, selected exhibitors as well as product and apparel vendors. This year the event is presented by Brown & Koro Motorcycle Attorneys and its new, lower $20 spectator admission.
But a lower price obviously doen't mean there is less to do.
Among the activities; the Calendar Motorcycle Show with its Calendar Bike Building Championship, celebrity Bike Builders, leading Manufacturers, Vendors, the Calendar Girl Music Festival and all-day admission to the famed Queen Mary Ghost Ship with the Saturday Night Builder's Party in the Queen's Observation Bar.
Reportedly, exhibitor display and Vendor prices have also been reduced to help industry partners in the current economy. The Show features many of the world's top Pro and Amateur custom street bike builders in attendance with their newest 2-wheeled creations of rolling art to compete in the Calendar Show Bike Building Championship with a bulging purse of cash and awards including the coveted Best of Show Trophy. This year the Calendar Bike Building Championship will follow the AMD World Championship Classes with the premier Pro Builder Freestyle Class Class sponsored by Iron Works magazine and 4 other classes for American V-Twin Customs, Vintage Bikes as well as Metric and Sportbikes Cruisers.
Exciting activities during the weekend include the Calendar Motorcycle Show World Championship Horsepower Dyno Shoot Out, Calendar Bike Building Seminars, the Calendar Girl Model Search Pageant, and the world premier of the new 2012 FastDates.com Motorcycle PinUp Calendars with the beautiful Calendar Kittens. Maybe the current stars Laya and Candise, pictured left, will appear.
Specal Appearances by Cast Members of Sons of Anarchy including Emilio Rivera and Kristen Renton are promised.
Included with admission is the Calendar Girl Music Festival with Frentic featuring lead singer, Bike Show Hostess Emily Jaye as well as the Barb Wire Dolls sexy rock band.
Spectators also get complimentary admission aboard the historic Queen Mary Ghost Ship, and entry to the Saturday Night Iron & Lace Calendar Builders Party with a live band in the ship's Observation Bar. Spectators arriving by motorcycle receive reduced $5 parking in the Queen Mary secure motorcycle lot. Free shuttle bus rides are provided for overflow automobile parking at the downtown Long Beach Parking Garages, plus there are paid Taxi Boat rides from Shoreline Marina direct to the Show.
Many motorcycle manufacturers use the event to unveil new models or give riders the opportunity to view the latest bikes up close and in person. Such is the case for Motus with the owners of the company riding their first ever offerings to the motorcycle world to the event from the factory’s hometown of Birmingham Alabama. Motus Motorcycles will use the LA Calendar Motorcycle Show for the West Coast premier of their new MST series high performance KM V-4 1650cc Touring and R Model naked sportbikes. The motorcycles are are the brain child of Lee Conn, designed and built by well known race car engineers Pratt & Miller, fabricators of the 24-Hour of LeMans winning factory Corvettes.
