Canada - Supreme Court of Canada to Hear Hells Angels Appeal

OFF THE WIRE

We got some interesting news out of Ottawa Thursday morning when the Supreme Court of Canada said it would hear the appeal of John Punko and Randy Potts - both formerly East End Hells Angels.

The men had sought leave to appeal a B.C. Court of Appeal ruling saying Crown prosecutors could proceed on a criminal organization charge, even though a B.C. Supreme Court judge had earlier ruled against the Crown.

The Crown then decided to proceed to trial with the Punko (pictured here) charge only - presumably because it was the stronger evidence. The next appearance had been set for September in B.C. Supreme Court.

Now that will have to be put on hold until the Hells Angels can make their case before the highest court and until those judges make a final determination on the issue
