A member of the Rock Machine outlaw bikie gang has been arrested over the death of 29-year-old man who was thrown through a second-storey window at a beachfront hotel in Perth.
Acting Detective Superintendent Dave Bryson said the man fell seven metres after allegedly being thrown through the plate glass window at the Ocean Beach Hotel in Cottesloe on Sunday night.
Act Det Supt Bryson, from the West Australian major crime squad, said police were speaking with a 25-year-old man on Monday afternoon in relation to the incident and charges could be laid.
He confirmed the man did have links to the Rock Machine outlaw motorcycle gang.
"What we would allege in court is that he went to the bar with other members of the Rock Machine gang and, during the course of the night, he had drinks at the bar," Act Det Supt Bryson told reporters.
He said the 25-year-old man was in the company of the four or five other Rock Machine members prior to the victim being thrown through the window.
Police are describing the incident as an unprovoked attack.
"This is a case of a young man, on a Sunday night, out with his friends having a beer and simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time," Act Det Supt Bryson said.
"This young man did not provoke anyone. This is what we'll allege. He was simply grabbed and thrown through a level-two plate glass window."
Police are seeking to interview two slim women, one with blonde hair and another with dark hair, who the victim was seen casually chatting to before he died.
It is uncertain whether the women were associated with the bikie gang members.
"When this young man was chatting, he was way away from the group, so he certainly wasn't getting in their way and was quietly having a chat," Act Det Supt Bryson said.
