OFF THE WIRE
May 23, 2011 – The thunderous roar of hundreds of motorcycles roared through downtown Sacramento on the way to this year’s Freedom Rally, held on the south steps of the State Capitol. Motorcyclists from throughout the State and from every genre gathered in solidarity to proclaim to their legislators that their personal freedoms and rights will not be stolen. Rally participants were greeted by several legislators – Assembly members, Tim Donnelly, Shannon Grove, Kevin Jeffries, Chris Norby, Martin Garrick and Dan Logue; who along with State Senators Anthony Cannella, Bob Huff and Joel Anderson, affirmed their commitment to continue to fight for the rights of all of California’s motorcyclists.
Deacon Phillips, founder of ABATE of California also addressed the crowd, urging them not to back down and to always stand up for rights that are already guaranteed by the Constitution. Gimmi Jimmy, National Commander of the US Defenders along with “Escondido” Paul Landers, National Lt. Commander were the featured speakers – California motorcyclists are perfectly poised to make a huge difference; however only if their efforts are united and they move forward in organized solidarity.
Following the rally, those in attendance visited with the legislators, encouraging them to pass biker-friendly legislation.
