Hells Angel gives self up

PITTSFIELD, MASS -- A ranking member of the Hells Angels, who was wanted in connection with a conspiracy plot to frame a government witness slated to testify against him, surrendered to authorities in Pittsfield on Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials identified Adam L. Hall, 33, of Peru, as the sergeant at arms of the Berkshire County chapter of the Hells Angels, the notorious worldwide motorcycle gang formed in California more than 60 years ago.

Hall, who denied several felony charges at his court arraignment on Wednesday, is accused of fabricating a criminal tale involving a key government witness scheduled to testify against him in an upcoming Berkshire Superior Court trial.

Massachusetts State Police investigators and New York State Police officials identified Hall as the mastermind of a plot to frame 43-year-old David Glasser for a crime that never occurred. Glasser, of Pittsfield, was accused by one of Hall's female associates of robbing her at gunpoint in August at a rest area in upstate New York.

Glasser initially was charged with various crimes after the alleged incident. But he has since been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, according to authorities, who believe Hall manufactured the story to discredit Glasser as a government witness.

Hall is facing a dozen charges -- including assault, drug and weapons offenses, among others -- in the case in which Glasser is a witness, according to court records.

Now,However, Hall faces additional felony charges in connection with the alleged frame-up plot against Glasser, including conspiracy, kidnapping, witness intimidation and using a gun during a felony.
Hall's bail on the new charges was set at $200,000 cash, $2 million bond, but a judge revoked his right to post bail for up to 60 days because of other pending charges.

Hall and three others -- Alexandra M. Ely, 20, and Scott Langdon, 44, both of Pittsfield, and Nicole Brooks, 20, of Scotia, N.Y. -- have been charged in connection with the scheme.

The conspiracy count alleges that all four defendants fabricated a crime in Wells, N.Y., on Aug. 14 and tried to pin it on Glasser to damage his credibility and, hopefully, "put him in jail" so he couldn't testify in Hall's upcoming trial.

According to New York State Police, Brooks claimed that Glasser robbed her at gunpoint, then attempted to kidnap and murder her at a highway rest stop in Wells. Langdon is accused of planting a handgun and Brooks' wallet in Glasser's pickup truck.

On Aug. 15, Pittsfield police found those items in Glasser's truck when they arrested him.

While Langdon and Brooks were arrested late last month, when police uncovered the scheme, Hall apparently went on the lam an evaded capture for more than a week. Ely was charged for her alleged role in the crime last week.

A law enforcement official told The Eagle that Hall surrendered himself to Pittsfield police on Wednesday morning. The official said the terms of the surrender were negotiated by Hall's attorney, William A. Rota of Pittsfield, who didn't return a call seeking comment on Thursday.
