Iowa - MASON CITY, IA--- A motorcycle rider could be facing some hefty fines after police say he was caught going more than 150 miles per hour on Interstate 35.
Shortly after 10 Monday night an Iowa State Trooper clocked Terry Ansel Lee, 35 of Liberty, Missouri going 89 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone near the Hampton exit in Franklin County.
The trooper reports Lee refused to stop and headed northbound.
About 20 miles down the highway, Lee's motorcycle passed the radar of a second trooper and it pegged his speed at 152 mph.
That trooper also gave chase and Lee took the Burchinal exit about 2 miles later.
Police said Lee turned east and then lost control on the gravel shoulder and wiped out.
The Trooper toppled an I-35 sign on the shoulder and went into the ditch of an adjoining farm yard and turned around.
The patrol officer managed to bump the high performance motorcycle with his cruiser, knocking over the machine as police said Lee prepared to get up and take off again.
Lee was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail where he is facing a charge of eluding and 2 speeding tickets.
Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Kevin Knebel is unsure of what the fine might eventually be for going 89 in a 70 mph zone.
But he is fairly certain that if Lee is convicted for traveling 152 mph in the same speed zone, he will likely face a fine of around $600.
Neither the trooper whose cruiser left the road or Lee were hurt.
The first trooper who gave chase had to have a tow truck called for him.
It's believed he may have blown his car engine during the pursuit.
