LOCAL 6 MAY 2010 REPORT TO THE BAILING WIRE
Our monthly meeting happened during another beautiful, sunny San Diego day. There were many riders attending the meeting, some new faces….some old…(and some real old).
We welcomed visitors, signed some new members, took decibel readings on some aftermarket mufflers, and as usual, discussed Biker politics. SB 435 is still lurking in the bushes, ready to strike…. So we advised members to send another letter to the NEW Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee, Bonnie Lowenthal, telling her that you are opposing Pavley’s SB 435.”

Janet Hogan was at the meeting, and she hopes she will see a bunch of us in court to support her. Besides the money that Local 6 donated to the Southern State Rally, Jim Brown threw in an extra hundred bucks. Thanks, Jim. Our July meeting falls on the Fourth of July, so we have decided to cancel that meeting,…. between visits to the beach, the helmet law protest ride, and the annual event in Hollister, there probably won’t be many people left in town on the Fourth for the local 6 meeting. Motorcycle Awareness month kicked-off this past week, and the road-signs were lit. Due to this program which ABATE is involved in, the 2009 statistics should show that Motorcyclist fatalities will be almost 30 percent lower than last year ! while Motorcycle registrations are up about seven percent.
Our next meeting is on June 8th, at Kate Sessions Park in Pacific Beach, San Diego….at Noon. C’mon Down !
