NHMRO ALERT: Do You Know Where Your EPA Stamp Is?
Do you know where the EPA stamp on your motorcycle muffler is? You know, the one that is somewhere under your motorcycle muffler’s bottom side? Well, by July 10th you'd better if you are going to ride through the New Hampshire seacoast town of North Hampton.
It seems that the loud pipes riders and the obnoxious throttle jockeys have won in getting the undeterred attention of North Hampton towns people who have now passed an ordinance “creating a motorcycle exhaust labeling program that will require permanent EPA stickers “on any motorcycle made after 1982, parked or going through their town.
Part of this new ordinance is our own fault for not policing ourselves better. We need to encourage and convince our riding friends/buddies to lay off the throttle in residential areas. Especially in the quite of night or this ordinance thing will spread everywhere in our state. Loud pipes loose rights, as this ordinance is showing. And the constant “blipping” of the throttle at stop signs/lights is a nuisance too. If your bike (or your buddy’s) won't idle properly: Get it fixed. No one wants to hear it rap, after rap, after rap. A simple adjustment will solve much of the added noise.
So, where do we go from here on the North Hampton ordinance? May I suggest a total boycott of businesses in North Hampton? That means no gas, no groceries, no parts, no smokes, no outlet shopping, etc. You get the picture. And North Hampton will too if we all stop spending our money in that town 100%.

First time offenders will be fined $200 to $500. Subsequent violations will be punishable by fines of $500 to $1,000. That’s a lot of change. Way too much to spend because some riders are loud and annoying. So let North Hampton businesses know you are not spending your change in their town until this ordinance is repealed. And it will be if we are 100% boycotting North Hampton.
