CA - San Mateo County: Traffic enforcement yields over 100 citations
OFF THE WIRE
San Mateo County deputies issued more than 100 citations this
weekend as part of a special motorcycle safety enforcement operation in
Redwood City and Woodside that also targeted other vehicles.
According to the county Police Chiefs & Sheriff Association,
the high number of deadly and injurious motorcycle crashes that occur in
these cities in the summer are what motivated the enforcement on Friday
and Saturday.
Most of the citations were for speeding, authorities reported.
Deputies report that one man, 22-year-old Kevin Ferrari of
Woodside, was arrested during the enforcement with more than 38 ounces
of marijuana, more than three ounces of hash oil, and $4,000 in cash.
The enforcement was funded by a grant from the state Office of
Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration.
A similar operation will be conducted next weekend, according to the police chiefs association.
