Members of the Warlock Motorcycle Club present Kelli Wittman, Warm the Children campaign coordinator, with a donation to the 2011 fund drive. The club’s annual crab feast has been the single largest fund raiser for Warm the Children for the last seven years.

Despite the steady rain that fell at the clubhouse grounds in Antioch, the crab feast hosted last month by the Warlock Motorcycle Club netted the largest donation – over $5,500 – in the seven years the event has benefitted Warm the Children.
More than 150 people turned out to enjoy live music, fresh crabs, and motorcycle field events.  A new attraction this year was Dyno motorcycle testing provided by Scooter Works in Frederick, Md.
Visitors came from as far away as New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.
Musical entertainment was provided by Coby Pyle the One-Man-Band, Tucker Hill Hayes, and Rev.  Corporate sponsors included St. Christopher’s Trucking, Automated Packaging, Kight’s Auto Body, Last Days Disciples, Shear Image, Grady’s 1 Stop, Capon Valley Used Cars, Lenny’s Leather, Fire & Iron Station 98, E-Z Money, Fort Ashby Corner Pub, TNT Custom Cycles, Good Times Tavern, Kerr’s Sales & Service, Tiny Town Day Care, Liberty Liquors, Moore’s Towing, Anthony’s Jr., ABATE of Western Maryland, Mill Creek Contracting, Stray Cat Wing Shack, The Royal Restaurant, Hideaway Tavern, and Warlock MC Seminole County.
“The Warlock donation will provide new winter clothing for 69 local children,” stated Kelli Wittman, Warm the Children campaign coordinator.
“Receiving a donation in this amount at the beginning of our fund drive gets us off to an outstanding start.  Our sincere thanks to the Warlocks for their hard work in making the annual crab feast such a success.”
Now in its 17th year in Mineral County, Warm the Children provides new winter clothing for local children in need.  The program is sponsored by the Mineral Daily News-Tribune.  The newspaper underwrites all campaign expenses, allowing 100 percent of donations to be used for these children.
A kick-off meeting for campaign volunteers will be held on Monday, Sept. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Central Business Center.  Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to attend.
While the application window to receive assistance in 2011 is now closed, donations are accepted at any time.  Checks can be made payable to “Warm the Children” and can be mailed to or dropped off at the News-Tribune office on Shamrock Drive.
