U.S. Representative Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) is urging members of the House of Representatives to sign a letter addressed to the leadership of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in support of including H.R. 904 and H. Res. 239 in the Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill.

As you may know, H.R. 904 would prohibit the Secretary of Transportation from providing grants or any funds to states or local governments to be used for any program to create motorcycle-only checkpoints. H. Res. 239 would urge the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to concentrate on motorcycle crash prevention and rider education instead of lobbying state lawmakers to enact mandatory helmet laws.
Sensenbrenner placed a May 24th deadline to collect signatures. Therefore, time is of the essence and the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is encouraging all AMA members and rights activists to contact their Representative and ask them to sign on to the letter.
Since the deadline is Tuesday, May 24th, the fastest way to reach your Member of Congress is to call them. You can find contact information for your Representatives on AmericanMotorcyclist.Com, click on "Rights," then "Issues & Legislation," and enter your zip code in the "Find your Officials" box. Additionally, a prewritten e-mail is available for you to send to your U.S. Representatives by following the "Take Action" option and entering your information.
All AMA members and anyone else who enjoys two-wheeled freedom are urged to contact their Representatives and ask them to sign on to the Sensenbrenner letter addressed to the leadership of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in support of including H.R. 904 and H. Res. 239 in the Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill.
