And to those of you who did nothing, you are welcome to enjoy the freedoms others have provided you!

A lot of hype was made of the 37% increase in cop deaths in 2010. This hype was promoted by the national leo memorial fund folks. http://www.nleomf.org/facts/officer-fatalities-data/

And a quick search on google shows which media sources are the most hystrionic in covering this "alarming" statistic.
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=gsih&xhr=t&q=37+percent+increase+in+police+officer&cp=37&pf=p&sclient=psy&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=37

One of the most balanced reports about this is from the Christian Science Monitor:

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Society/2010/1228/Why-police-officer-deaths-rose-37-percent-in-2010

They break it down nicely. There are roughly 800,000 sworn leo's in the nation. Therefore the the "on-the-job" death rate was .02%. And of the 160 deaths 73 of them were killed in car crashes - some because they were not wearing seatbelts.
It's easy for a percentage to fluctuate dramatically when the numbers are so small.

But what is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND are the stats that talk about how many innocent citizens are killed by LEO's. That is why it is good to support bloggers like http://www.injusticeeverywhere.com/. He's a self-motivated activist who is capturing stats across the country about the criminal activities of cops towards citizens.
