An Orange County jury was selected late this afternoon in the first-degree murder case of James Madison Bedsole, a Warlocks motorcycle gang member whom police say shot and killed another man in Apopka in 2009 who had used his truck to run over another gang member's motorcycle.
Apopka Police said Bedsole, a Warlocks motorcycle gang member, shot and killed Chad Brickey after Brickey used his truck to knock over a parked motorcycle belonging to another gang member.
In September 2009, Brickey, 29, got into an argument at a pool hall on Orange Blossom Trail where the Warlocks were known to hang out, police said. Brickey —- who was not a member of the gang — was told to leave. He climbed into his pickup and intentionally hit a motorcycle parked in the parking lot.
Bedsole, 40, then jumped into the back of another truck driven by another man. Bedsole told that man, Holguy Louissaint, to follow Brickey's truck so he could get the tag number, a police spokesman said at the time.
They chased Brickey throughout Orange County until Brickey pulled into a Mobil gas station on Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka. Bedsole leaped from the truck and fired once at Brickey, shooting him in the back of the head, police said.
Bedsole fled on foot, and Louissaint drove away.
Officers arrested Bedsole on a charge of first-degree murder at his Lake Mary home.
Jury selection started this morning in front of Orange Circuit Judge Roger McDonald. Jurors chosen to hear the case were selected shortly before 5 p.m. today Opening statements by the prosecution and the defense are scheduled to start at about 9:15 a.m. tomorrow. Witness testomony will then follow.
