ATLANTA (AP) - New signs alerting motorists to watch for motorcycles are going up in metro Atlanta as part of an effort to reduce crashes.
Authorities say the yellow, diamond-shaped signs are being installed this week at Peachtree Street and North Avenue. Officials say crash statistics show that the intersection is among the most dangerous for motorcycles in Fulton County.
Allstate Insurance Co., which worked with local officials to determine which intersections pose the greatest threats to motorcycles, announced the signs this week. The company says there are plans to install them in more than 30 other U.S. cities this year.
In Georgia, Allstate officials say the motorcycle warning signs will also be installed at Marietta Parkway and Whitlock Avenue in Marietta; and at Athens Highway and Grayson Parkway in Snellville.
