Today HB0930 - WE SUPPORT - This bill will eliminate Federal money from being used for MC only check points, and sponsored by Senator Bill Haine (56), was heard in the Senate Ag Committee which has all ABATE friendly members and chaired by Senator Michael Frerichs (52).
Neither Todd nor myself had to speak on this bill and as a matter of fact Chairman Frerichs asked Senator Haine
"Do you have anything to say before the committee sends this bill to a Sub-Comittee"! He was joking with all of us. When they want to kill a bill they will send it to a "Sub-Comittee"
I/we knew it would go pretty easy but this was pretty special.It was moved to pass by Senator Koehler (46)and 2nd by Senator Holmes (42) with a unanimous vote from the rest of the committee.

This bill is ours to lose!!! The next link is for the members of the Senate. EVERYONE call your Senator and respectfully ask them to vote Yea for HB0930. We are so very close. This bill will become a law when the Governor signs it.

HB1907 - WE OPPOSE - This is the bill that could quite easily get us caught up in the Illinois Street Gang and Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Law (or "RICO").
This bill is scheduled for the Executive Committee tomorow,Wednesday at 2 pm in room 212 at the capitol.
(A) If a couple of members get caught doing something wrong and not what we stand for we could be in big trouble and our simple raffles and membership drawings could be seen as illegal gambling.
(B) Doing a Charity Poker Run Fund Raiser to help a terminal friend or loved one could put us in trouble
(C) This law is much too vague and a overzealous states attorney could really do a lot of harm to us. This law just to gray and vague.
