A WAGGA Finks Motorcycle Club member has revealed the group wants to distance themselves from the bikie wars, which have been escalating across the country.

In light of the Gold Coast shopping centre shooting that saw a man, linked to a bikie gang, shot while an innocent bystander was caught in the crossfire last weekend, The Daily Advertiser contacted Wagga resident John Craft, also known as Nuttsy, from the Finks.

Although hesitant to speak, Mr Craft said he did not approve of the actions related to many motorcycle gangs and did not like the fact that he, or any other of the Wagga members, in the group, could be associated with that kind of behaviour.

“We don’t approve of it of course it’s just making it hard for everybody,” he said.

“I’ve been in the club for 42 years and I’ve had a ball. It’s just about the mateship and to ride.”

Mr Craft said he felt disappointed if the Finks Motorcycle Club was seen in a bad light because of what was happening.

“What can I say? No one wants to be involved in that,” he said.

“The whole world has changed; the whole scene has changed.”

“It’s a club, and we don’t like being called gangs and I just joined like any other club.”

According to Mr Craft, he loves being a part of the motorcycle club because he gets to ride motorcycles and having a close-knit group of mates.
