California Riders - BOYCOTT Event Notice - NO PATCH, NO COLORS POLICY!!!! Please don't support events that don't support you and your way of life.
Born Free (Annual) Motorcycle Show. June 25th & 26th. Oak Canyon Ranch, Silverado Ca. 92676
Don't let the event name fool you, we are NOT free to exercise our 1st Amendment Rights here. Now, when they state, No Patch, one can't assume just Motorcycle Club Patches...that means Cops, Firemen, First Responders, Car Clubs, Veterans, Unions, Girl/Boy Scouts...everyone who wears an organization patch.
Furthermore, shame on all the sponsors like Harley Davidson (who, by the way is now targeting marketing campaigns directly to motorcycle club members), Arlen Ness (He should know better), Russ Brown (pseudo motorcycle attorneys) Geico Motorcycle Insurance and others. When confronted, these sponsors always claim either a) they didn't know, b) it is not the event's policy, it is local police c) club members should just go with the program, leave their colors on their bikes and come and have a good time..and the worse reply ever... d) we are not going to pullout from a money making event for us.. REALLY?
Event promoters, get it straight - private property owners can establish a dress code (currently) in CA, and if that's the case...PICK ANOTHER LOCATION. As for the police, they CANNOT coerce, intimate or harass business owners to deny anyone nor set a policy. Find your balls and stand-up to them. In addition, don't say that your show is meant to "unite" people from all walks of life by bringing the passion that we all have of these old machines together for two special days...when you ban a true American sub-culture from being part of an event that celebrates their heritage.
