A Braintree man faces charges after he allegedly lied about being a member of the military to get a free ride on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
Christopher Keefe, 28, tried to avoid paying the fare at the Massachusetts Avenue subway station Tuesday evening by claiming he was an active member of the military, according to MBTA police.
When asked by MBTA police officers for his military identification, they determined he was not in the military.
Keefe was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Quincy District Court for assault and battery on an elderly person.
In my experience, some cities do offer free public transportation to active members of the military, and here we have this guy trying to take advantage of that. Well now his picture is public and our Boston followers will now know he is a fake.
