Story – my cause
There
are never enough words to describe the love you feel for your mother or
you can use every single word in the world to describe how great she is
and never seems to be enough... the single thought of losing her makes
you sad, desperate and anxious to find a way to keep her with you
longer.
Sadly for us, over the last 4 years my mother has been diagnosed with Cirrhosis and unfortunately this condition is not reversible, the only real medical solution is a liver transplant, the waiting list is huge and we are afraid that we don't have that much time.
At the end of May, she had a severe stomach bleeding - chances of surviving were 50% and chances of this happening again are 90% - Doctors said that she is very lucky to continue living. She had spent one week at the hospital, had multiple tests and they told us her liver is very damaged as well as other organs (spleen, stomach, esophagus). It’s July and she have had 3 episodes.
Going from one to another Doctor, we found a specialist who has dedicated most of his work to liver diseases. He examined her and confirmed that her only real chance to survive is to get a liver transplant, with the difference that this time, instead of putting her on a waiting list he told us there is an opportunity that she can receive the liver from a living donor, it could be me. The procedure is well known by him and his medical staff as they had made several through the years, he takes 60% of the healthy liver and remove the damaged one, both patients recover the organ in 6 weeks - the liver is the only organ that can make this.
Close your eyes for a second and imagine yourself in our position, imagine our faces and excitement knowing that there is still a real chance for her, it was/is like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in one hand but in the other, my mother's insurance won’t cover it.
Our path to get this surgery is long and expensive ...that's why we are looking for your help to make this miracle happen. We have some savings, had listed what we have for sale but still but won’t be enough, we still need $180,000 dlls to fully cover the cost of transplant surgery plus pre/post-surgery doctor appointments, medicines, blood tests, compatibility and liver studies (for both)
We all wish to have a chance to give back the miracle of life to our parents and this time i could do it for her if we reach the goal. Thanks a lot for any contribution and we appreciate all your shares to spread the word with your friends.
