From January to June this year, the Tampa Police Department has investigated 13 motorcycle fatalities, 10 more than they investigated in the first six months of 2012.
“While investigating many of the fatalities and accidents, officers are discovering more motorcycle drivers operating without the proper motorcycle endorsement,” according to a TPD media release.

“While investigating many of the fatalities and accidents, officers are discovering more motorcycle drivers operating without the proper motorcycle endorsement,” according to a TPD media release.
So, police officers are in the middle of a motorcycle enforcement campaign
that started July 5 and will run through July 31.
“During this motorcycle safety campaign, officers will be citing motorcycle drivers for unsafe driving practices, improper display of tag and drivers without the appropriate endorsement on their license,” the release states.
Officers will also be enforcing the motorcycle helmet law, according to the release. Motorcycle helmets are required if the driver does not have medical insurance.
“There will be a zero tolerance policy during this enforcement period,” the release states.
